The bedroom should be more than a resting place, but also a place where you can feel comfortable and cozy. Whether its occupant is the homeowner or a guest, make your bedroom feel like a haven for relaxation with these designs considerations:

Design Considerations

Your design choices are endless in a bedroom. You may choose a modern or contemporary look for sleek, minimalist look; a themed room such as nautical or gothic; or a timeless, traditional design style. Before you start construction on your new space, decide on what design style works for the room. From there, start looking for materials that suit that particular style.

Material Considerations

When it comes to bedroom flooring, there are multiple options available, each having their own pros and cons. Before selecting your flooring, consider the following points:

  • Comfort: The right type of flooring is the one that is comfortable enough.
  • Care: If you will have much time to take care of your floors, then go for such flooring that does not require much of maintenance and is durable, like laminate and vinyl flooring.
  • Traffic: How much traffic will this area of the house get? If a lot, you may consider laminate flooring, which is easy to clean.
  • Budget: While, hardwoodwood and natural stone may be on the higher end of the spectrum, vinyl will be on the other end.

Carpet (rolls or carpet tile), hardwood, synthetic wood, and composite are all common choices in a bedroom.

Intelligent Design

Accents are key in a bedroom, from window treatments and rugs to candles and artwork. All in all, you want to keep an uncluttered area that allows for optimial relaxation and sleep. Bedroom accents with fancy lighting or fans, or choose ornate woodwork for the bedframe/headboard and window/door trim add an attractive design aesthetic.
